The Corton hill lies to the North of the end of the Côte de de Nuits where vines mingle with stone quarries. The vineyards form a kind of amphitheater which is not found elsewhere in the Côte. On the Southern side of the appellation, the dark soils are made up of limestone debris while those on the Northern side, the soils are mainly pebbly. The wines are smooth and distinguished.

Plenty of ageing potential on display, still a touch of reduction on the opening moments, softening to show sweet red cherry, rapsberry and tobacco, fine but plentiful tannins, plenty of character with a twist of charred sandalwood. 15 whole bunch fermentation. Impressive from winemaker Pierre Chapuis, at an estate where even this 2.5ha village wine has average vine age of 53 years. Bottled unfiltered. To drink: 2024-2038.
