- 92 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: The 2019 Fonroque is a rich, hedonistic wine bursting at the seams with super-ripe red cherry fruit, chocolate and sweet spice. Racy and voluptuous, this is one agf the more full-throttle wines oft he year. This is not a shy wine by any means.
- 92 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, William Kelley: The 2019 Fonroque has turned out nicely, offering up aromas of blackberries, minty cassis, licorice and spices. Full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with a fleshy core of fruit, powdery tannins and lively acids, it's a rich, generous, demonstrative wine that remains nicely balanced. Part of Fonroque's biodynamically farmed holdings are located on Saint-Émilion's limestone plateau, and the rest on the slopes, with more clay and colluvium.
- 93 Punkte FALSTAFF: Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Ockerrandaufhellung. Schwarze Beerenfrucht, Nuancen von Trüffeln und grüne Oliven, etwas Nougat, Kräuter, individuelles Bukett. Saftig, elegant, feine Fruchtsüße, tragende, reife Tannine, mineralischer Stil, gutes Reifepotenzial, frischer Stil, braucht noch Zeit.
- 92 Punkte DECANTER, Jane Anson: Fairly austere at first, as is often the case with Fonroque as it rarely overlayers its tannins with chocolate and toast notes. When you sit with it the juice comes through, and this is very attractive, well placed cassis and raspberry fruits, soft white pepper spicing and a saline kick on the finish. Come back in 6-8 years and enjoy how mouthwateringly enjoyable this is going to be. A yield of 40hlha. Drinking Window 2026 2040
- 16,5+ Punkte JANCIS ROBINSON: Full bottle 1,340 g. An Alain Moueix property that is certified organic and biodynamic. Vibrant crimson. Rather reticent but subtle nose. Very attractive spiciness and not too much sweetness. Good balance between fruit, acidity and tannin. Really racy, appetising wine. But not super-concentrated. Restrained overall.
- 94 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: Seriously good, the 2019 Château Fonroque shows the elegance and classic style of the vintage while bringing plenty of fruit and opulence. Giving up lots of mulled currants, spiced black cherries, cedar pencil, and Asian spices, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, beautifully integrated oak, and a great finish. I'd be thrilled with bottles in the cellar.
- 92 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: Ripe and perfumed nose of baked blueberries, cassis, cherries, chocolate, licorice and sweet spices. Its full-bodied with ripe, firm tannins. Fleshy and plush with plenty of ripe blue fruit. From organically grown grapes. Better after 2024.
- 18 Punkte VINUM: Hat durch den Ausbau noch an Fruchtigkeit gewonnen, ohne an seiner besonderen Würze zu verliereb, grosse Rasse extreme Frische, Mineralität und Länge, perfekt ausbalanciertes Feuer: ein Hit. ;
