Alles über Domaine Philippe Colin Chassagne Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1Er Cru Cote de Beaune 2022 0.75 L Flasche 2022

Notizen des Weinguts: 1.21 acres. Vineyards: « Les Chenevottes » vineyard is located at the edge of Chassagne-Montrachet, bordering the vineyards of Saint-Aubin. It is sets directly below the Premier Cru of « Les Chaumées » and « Les Vergers ». The heavier clay content that is present lends a spicy, powerful character to the wines. The average age of the vines, which are trained in the Single Guyot method, is approximately 45 years, with some ranging up to 80 years old. Tasting notes: « Les Chenevottes » exhibits a lovely richness and depth. Elegant and expressive, this wine is spicy with a toasted nut nuance. Vanilla and pear are evident on both the nose and the palate where there is a bracing acidity present. The lengthy finish is clean and powerful leaving a lasting impression. Ideal with spinach lasagna with salmon, or morel chicken. To be served at 10-12°C. Ageing potential: 5-7 years.
96 Punkte. Unbedingt Dekantieren. Zalto Burgunder Glas. Hochwertiger Naturkork.
- BURGHOUND, Allen Meadows (062024): There is plenty of petrol character and rosemary oil nuances suffusing the ripe and fresh aromas of white flowers and apple compote. The delicious, vibrant, rich and caressing medium-bodied flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract that also serves to buffer the moderately firm acidity spine supporting the citrusy, clean, dry and balanced finale. This is quite good and a wine that could be enjoyed young or held for up to a decade first. Drink: 2030+ PRODUCER NOTE: There are big changes at this domaine as Philippe Colin has ceded a large part of the domaine to his son Simon (see immediately below for the details) in much the same way that his father Michel did when he split the domaine between he and his brother Bruno (see also above). Briefly though, Simon will be taking over roughly two-thirds of the vines, but Philippe will retain the more prestigious white vineyards, which is again exactly what Michel did some years ago. As is usually the case, Philippe was again at his domaine in South Africa preparing for the harvest. His assistant Emmanuel presided over the tasting and briefly noted that the harvest began on the 21st of September and we brought in ripe and clean fruit though not much of it. Average potential alcohols were quite good at about 13 and we aged the wines exclusively in 500L barrels.
- 91-94 Punkte Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy: Just a little more colour here, and a brisker nose with some tangy plum fruit. Excellent weight on the palate. Not too soft nor too heavy, the acidity works well here. A long finish with a crisper touch. Overall, I prefer the balance here to the Chaumées, and there is a little more complexity in the fruit. Drink from 2027-2034.
- Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy über Philippe Colin: Philippe Colin set up in modern premises in the industrial zone of Chassagne with his share of the Colin-Deleger vineyards, along with others which he has acquired or rents. Philippe is fortunate to get two bites at the Puligny Demoiselles cherry his own small plot which has just been replanted, and a share of the fruit from the mature plot belonging to the SCI St-Abdon. The Philippe Colin style is for elegance and subtlety ahead of overt weight and power. He has moved to using mostly larger barrels, without a significant proportion of new wood. The wines are closed using corks with a layer of wax above the cork but below the top of the bottle, then covered with a standard capsule. From the 2021 vintage Philippe has handed over a number of vineyards to his son, Simon, who now makes them under his own label. Philippe also migrates from time to time to South Africa where he purchased a winery, Topiary, in Franschhoek in 2014.
- aus dem großartigen Buch Inside Burgundy von Jasper Morris MW über Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, Lage: Les Chenevottes: Chenevottes is sitated on relatively flat land, a coll site but not too humid. The ame is a dimunutive of chanvre (hemp) which was doubtless grown here before. Various members of the Colin and Morey family make fine, supple white wines from this large premiere cru that borders the former RN6 north of the vineyards and includes the lieux-dits of Les Commes and Les Bondues, not often seen in their own right. Bewertung für den Jahrgang 2021:
- 90-93 Punkte, BURGHOUND, Allen Meadows: A cool, pure and airy nose reflects notes of the essence of white orchard fruit, lemon-lime and subtle oak. There is again and really lovely texture to the vibrant and highly seductive middleweight flavors that also conclude in a clean, bone-dry and impressively long finale where a touch of bitter lemon character can be found. This is surprisingly powerful and a wine that should age gracefully. Drink: 2028+ ;
